When Visiting Museum Does Not Sounds Boring (Again)
Sneaking around the Sofitel just to see the sunset at Manila Bay. |
Okay, maybe the caption of the picture seemed to be a bullshit, but I must tell you guys, we really sneaked around Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, a 5-star hotel, with our casual-flipflop-backpack outfit and leave without being called by the authorities.
That's only one of the exciting memories I'm currently having here as part of an AIESEC exchange program. But before I go further, I must write a blog about museums in Manila, so.. here it is.
On the way to Roxas Blvd. |
On Monday, we went to the Metropolitan Museum of Manila. In the schedule.. it says that we must meet at Trinoma/SM North at 9 AM. But because we were so friggin' tired after climbed Mt. Maculot the day before, we made it at 1 PM. Nice.
Okay, so we (me, Karlie, Keisha, and Ajay) took the LRT at Roosevelt straight to the Quirino Station and walked around a little bit at Manila Zoo and Botanical Garden on the way (we're already late but who cares). We found Metropolitan Museum of Manila facing the Roxas Blvd and bought the entrance fee for 100 pesos. On the first floor, we can still take pictures, but not for the other floors..
A series of painting under the same theme hanging on the wall. |
A sculpture with nice decoration on the floor. |
I actually love this one. |
The above picture show some kinds of insects, but it was arranged by leaf, branches, and some drawings that resembles vertebra.
Ajay, move out dammit. |
The title said something along the lines of 'flower of the butcher' or something. The flower actually seems like a fresh meat doesn't it? |
So actually what I can recall from the 1st floor is the art of the nature.. it's very beautiful though. I like it very much.
For the 2nd and underground floor, we can't take pictures.. but basically for 2nd floor there are more modern and contemporary art display, such as paintings, sculpture, installations, even short movie. It is great to see the evolution of Filipino arts through years.. For the underground floor there are so many ancient jewelry, pottery and statues dating back to the prehistoric era.
For the conclusion, I really love the way Metropolitan Museum of Manila package its elements. Maybe it's only three floor but I have great experience here :)
So, see you again in the next post :)
NB: Sorry Mikko, we can't visit Lopez museum because it's already too late... we'll be visiting it some time okay?
