Learning The Evolution of Philippine Arts: Why Not?

So, after a few weeks living in Philippines, I decided to visit some museums downtown in Makati. The first museum that makes me really attracted to the arts of the Philippines was Ayala Museum.

And I really love it. Sulit to the bone.

Yeah!!!

I went there with Karlie and Keisha, but I met Leo too inside. And we are really fascinated with Fernando Zobel's painting... Oh my god. It felt so unreal. His paintings have really distinct style from the other one on display, Cesar Legazpi. But I like both of them, though. And you know what, Cesar Legaspi was colorblind! Man, maybe that's why the color palette of his paintings feels.. weird. But that makes him really unique from others.

Jucar XII by Fernando Zobel, stolen from the Internet.

"Games for Three" by Cesar Legazpi stolen from the Internet, too.

After my journey to Ayala Museum, I decided to do some research about Fernando Zobel, Juan Luna, and F.R. Hidalgo. Those are the great artists in my opinion, and I love their paintings. So, on Thursday, I went to the Lopez Library and read some of their autobiography.

Three maestro of Filipino arts.
Juan Luna's "Espana y Filipinas" in Lopez Library.

What I found in the book (you won't believe it) is all of their paintings! Oh my god, finally I can witness all of their masterpieces...  although I can't experience it directly from the real painting.

After I take notes from the important points of the book, I went home after say thanks to the librarian who was very helpful :D
